Meeting held 11 January 2001 via Internet using mIRC Beginning 19:58 CST and ending 21:47 CST Present: Ron Eason, Vice-President Veda Mendoza, Secretary/Treasurer Ellen Horner, Membership Secretary Sue Soden Connie Burkett Jeri Shangle A discussion was held concerning the upcoming GenTech Conference in Mesquite, TX on February 2 and 3. It was decided that a 2 to 3 page brochure would be produced for distribution at this conference. Wayne Duncan and Connie Burkett have been working on the development a prototype to be approved by the Board of Directors. The content of the brochure was discussed and all Board members present agreed that the files previously sent by Connie were professional and acceptable for distribution. Ron Eason will send an announcement to the mail list so that the general membership will have an opportunity to receive the information about the conference. Sue Soden informed the Board that the uploaded Bylaws file link to the Michigan Act had been changed to the official site and that the title Honorary needed to be added to some of the tech volunteers on the Who's Who page. All Board members present agreed to the changes. A discussion was held regarding the need to send files to the Archives if a transcriber personally purchased the first S-K CD. A determination was made the CD belonged to the transcriber and was not donated by SK Publications. The transcribed file does not need to be sent to the Archives Census Project. Sue was asked to develop a button for Extended Index. The expanded index covers transcriptions of the index that contain more detailed information than just the name and page number. These indexes are being done by some transcribers for census images that have been placed online. The meeting was adjourned.
