Minutes of the Board of Directors for the USGenWeb Census Project

Meeting held 22 February 2001 via Internet using mIRC  beginning at 19:39
EST and ending at 20:42 EST.

Present:

A quorum being present the meeting was called to order by Wayne Duncan

Minutes from the Board Meetings of February 15, 2001 were approved as
presented.

There were no officer, board or standing committee reports.

There were no special orders addressed.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

    Wayne Duncan reported that USGenNet would create a new email list for
    us. (This is in reference to the CensusUpLoad list currently housed at
    Yahoo.)

    Wayne Duncan reported that he had not yet completed the Public
    Relations job description.

    Veda Mendoza reported that PR 2001-03 had not been issued to date. This
    release was for the Team Concept. It was agreed that, while this did
    need to be released, There would be a new number assigned when the
    release is done.

NEW BUSINESS:

    A vendor, Indus International, has requested a link on our Microfilm/CD
    page. After looking at their web page, it was agreed that we would add
    a link to this company. Sue Soden will verify that we have a disclaimer
    on our web pages that list vendors.

    Sue Soden addressed "Gifting."  We have been given permission to link
    to a Webmaster's Page for census transcriptions. We were also informed
    that we had permission to copy the files and add them to our database
    upon the Webmaster's death. A discussion was held as to how to report
    and record gifts of this type. Several suggestions were made. One, do
    the buttons with a different color background use the term Donated with
    a slightly different button design, and three use some form of the two
    suggestions.
