Minutes of the Board of Directors for the USGenWeb Census Project

Meeting held 26 April 2001 via Internet using mIRC  beginning at 20:35 EST
and ending at 22:15 EST.

Present:
    Ron Eason, Vice President
    Veda Mendoza, Secretary/Treasurer
    Ellen Horner, Membership
    Connie Burkett

A quorum being present the meeting was called to order by Ron Eason,
presiding.

Robert's Rules of Order were suspended except for Motions.

There were no officer, board or standing committee reports.

There were no special orders addressed.

OLD BUSINESS:

    Connie Burkett had presented the draft of the reply to Binn's Genealogy
    via email to the Board members. The draft was accepted without change.
    The response will be sent by Connie Burkett.

NEW BUSINESS:

   We discussed various methods for recruiting State Coordinators.
   Suggestions discussed were:

    1. Assigning new applicants with very little experience transcribing as
       Assistant State Coordinators under a State Coordinator that could
       train and mentor. After a period of working With the State
       Coordinator, the new Assistant State Coordinator could then be
       assigned a state.

    2. Post a letter to the list that would define the qualifications and
       the job duties.

    Both suggestions were discussed and additional discussion will be held
    at a later date with the full Board.
