Twiggs County, GA 1840 Federal Census Transcriber's notes: This information was transcribed from a CD that was copied from microfilm. The information was typed as I read it, and no changes were made by me. After becoming familiar with Jordan W. Lee's handwriting, the transcribing became a little easier. I also checked any questions I had by using the microfilm at the Ladson Genealogy Library in Vidalia, Georgia. Emily Hertz, the librarian there, assisted me in reading the difficult names. I would like to express my appreciation to my husband, Harold A. Bivins, Sr. for his assistance in reading the handwriting and his patience regarding all the time that I spent doing the transcription. Because of my parents, Maurine and James Ware McCallum, I have a deep sense of interest in the heritage given to me from my ancestors who lived in Twiggs County.
