On January 13, 2012 - Brian Knoff, a descendant of Frederick and Mary informs us that the correct spelling of the surname is Knoff. This is supported by various historical records of Johnson County, KS. A portion of the descendant's email reads: "They came from Germany (Prussia) and wound up in Montreal, Canada West (what is now Ontario but Quebec now). They hit up KC, Missouri in 1855, bought 80 acres in Shawnee, Kansas and stayed there until death. Kids went to California where they all stayed." ===========================================================================
