Rankin County, Mississippi 1850 The enumerator, Thomas L. White, began his work on August 14, 1850 and completed taking the Rankin County census on November 29, 1850. Comments from the transcriber, Larry Cooley. Ages: 0s and 1s sometimes difficult to distinguish between , i.e. 20, 21 5s and 3s were not always written plainly Lettering: e's and i's were EXTREMELY similar S's and L' were difficult unless it was a 'normal' name Numbering: An occasional Dwelling/Family number was skipped Since there were problems dealing with the e's / i's and some of the l's / t's, the transcription does not always agree with the SK index. A very few first names for a MALE resident would be indicated as Jo. This could represent for any number of names. Sometimes an abbreviation was used when the first and last names together were lengthy.
