ADDENDUM NOTES TO PENNSYLVANIA 1880, BRADFORD COUNTY 1. Regarding Franklin Township: The enumerator wrote at the top of pages 185A, 185B, & 186A (which fall in the middle of the township) the name of LeRoy Township. I don't believe this to be true, since the pages before and after are all complete ( 50 lines per page ), and also the total count of 702 at the end of Franklin Township, as attested to by the enumerator, includes these three pages. So I have assumed this to be an error, either on the part of the enumerators who did the originals, or by the copiers of the pages. 2. Regarding South Waverly: The handwriting is extremely poor. It is virtually impossible to tell the difference between a, e, and o. 3. Regarding Wyalusing Township: It is difficult to distinguish between a J and a Y, so that NJ could be NY * I purchased a telephone book of Bradford and Sullivan Counties which has been a great help. When I found a name I could not decipher, I looked in the phone book to either verify or to make the nearest guess I could, since in these rural counties there are many descendants of those enumerated in 1880. * Files were transcribed using Windows 98 with Works 4.5 & Excel spreadsheets. ================================================================================= This Census was transcribed by Neil Teague and proofread by Anne Johnson and Sandy Sterling for the USGenWeb Census Project http://www.us-census.org/ =================================================================================
