Lincoln, TN 1840 Federal Census http://ftp.us-census.org/pub/usgenweb/census/tn/lincoln/1840/ =================================================================================== DESCENDANT NOTE for Ambrose B. Shull furnished by g-grandson of D. B. Shull, Charles Schull =================================================================================== I believe the A. B. SHULTZ listed on page 39, line 8 in the 1840 Lincoln, TN census is really Ambrose B. SHULL. Here is my documentation for this reasoning. In the 1830 Lincoln County, TN census Ambrose B. Shull is listed on stamped page #180, line 10 Males 20-30 (1) -- Ambrose Females -5 (2) -- his two daughters, Martha and Elizabeth Females 20-30 (1) -- his wife, Eunice In the 1840 Lincoln County, TN census A. B. Shultz is listed on stamped page #39, line 8 Males -5 (1) -- his son, William Males 30-40 (2) -- Ambrose and one boarder Females 5-10 (1) -- his daughter, Elizabeth Females 10-15 (1) -- his daughter, Martha Females 30-40 (1) -- his wife, Eunice In the 1850 Lincoln County, TN census (Subdivision No. 1) Eunice Shull is listed on stamped page 104a, line 28 Eunice Shull 46 Miliner, $1000, Ky Martha, 22 Miliner, Ala Elizabeth, 21 Miliner, Tenn Lafayette, 17 Painter, Tenn William, 12 Tenn Amanda, 9 Tenn Mary, 5 Tenn James Smith, 48 Hatter, Maryland My cousin Andrea Stone has an extensive collection of copies of original census and she sent me the 1830 to do my research on Ambrose B. SHULL. My g.grandfather D. B. SHULL was born in Clark County, KY 1819 and came to Norris Creek area of Lincoln County in 1844. By 1847 or 1848 he was in a textile and clothing business in Fayetteville with Ambrose B. SHULL and wife Eunice. Ambrose died before 1850 and in the 1850 Lincoln County, TN census Eunice is listed as head of household with children. Eunice and D. B. SHULL appear as executers of the estate in will and probates by Tim and Helen Marsh Book. In the 1840 Lincoln County census, William Timmons is enumerated next to A. B. Shultz, and William Timmons was a witness to A. B. Shull's will in 1847. History: Joseph SCHOLL and Levina Boone are grandparents of D. B. SHULL. One of Joseph’s brother was Isaac SCHOLL but, like my g.grandfather D. B. SHULL, had changed spelling to SHULL. Isaac moved from Clark Co KY to Williamson Co TN bef 1820 and died 1822 leaving wife Charity and 5 children. Ambrose was one of those children and kin to D. B. SHULL. One census in 1860 had D. B. SMALL recorded on the same property of grandpa so maybe some didn’t hear well or write too good. Charlie ===================================================================================
