For Slave Color: B - Black Col - Colored M - Mulatto Y - Yellow On occasion, some enumerators will only list a value in this column if it is something other than Black. For Slaves over 100 years old, frequently (not always) the name of the slave is listed. While women were not supposed to be able to own property at the time of these census enumerations, there are numerous entries where the owner of the slaves either has a "female" first name or is
