CART Commands
The main program screen provides several menu items with pull-down menus:
Create New--creates a new abstract
Open--opens an existing abstract
Rename--changes the name of an existing abstract
Delete--deletes an existing abstract from the database
Exit--ends the CART program
Import
Export
Report-- launches
Help--Opens the CART User Manual
About--displays a dialog box describing this program
Instructions--displays a text-only version of these instructions
DBF--imports a census file that is currently saved as a Dbase 3 database file
Tab Delimited--many programs provide the ability to save a file as a tab delimited text file.
The CART program can import these types of files as long as each record has
the correct number of fields per record.
DBF--creates a Dbase 3 file out of an existing abstract
Text--creates a standard ASCII text file from an existing abstract
Tab Delimited--this export function is useful when exporting to another database or
spreadsheet program as virtually all these type programs can import standard
tab-delimited data.
HTML--creates a HTML-coded Web page. From the Export window, choose HTML and
click OK. Enter target directory for your HTML export in the window that pops up
and choose OK. You should receive a confirmation that the census abstract has
been exported to HTML.
HTML SETUP-- a screen will pop up, asking for more information about you, including your
email address and name. The information you enter will appear on your completed
Web page.
